How Backups Work
OfflineLog has a three-layer backup system to keep your data safe. Set it up once and it runs automatically. You can also export encrypted backups for extra protection.
Three automatic backup layers
Layer 1 - IndexedDB: your browser's database, used for daily reading and writing. Layer 2 - OPFS auto-save: the browser's file system saves a copy after every change. Layer 3 - disk backup: every 30 minutes, OfflineLog saves a backup to a folder you choose on your computer. A status indicator (green/yellow/red) on the dashboard shows your backup health at a glance.
Export and restore
Click the Backup button in Settings to export your entire database as a file. Set a password to encrypt it. Store this file on an external drive or cloud storage - even if your computer is lost or damaged, your data is safe. To restore, simply drag the backup file onto OfflineLog. Set up disk backup immediately - it takes seconds.
